The
Society of St. Vincent de Paul
offers tangible assistance to those in need on a
person-to-person basis. It is this personalized involvement that
makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form
of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or
in-kind service. St. Hilary's clients come not only from our own
parish but also from neighboring parishes. These referrals
usually come from the pastor, the school, or responses to the
message in the church bulletin. With needs that vary from
spiritual to financial, clients can depend on their identity
remaining anonymous. Help from our members takes many forms:
visiting the elderly, helping young, single mothers from who
have opted against abortion obtain necessary food, clothing and
furniture, paying monthly bills (up to three months, depending
on the need) as well as sponsoring a yearly blood drive and
several clothing drives during the year. Sometimes our help
extends to foreign children in countries such as the Philippines
and Venezuela. If you have questions about the work of our
conference, or if you wish to inquire about membership, please
call the rectory or the coordinator for St. Hilary's
conference.

Bereavement
Ministry: The Bereavement
Ministry of St. Hilary of Poitiers Parish is a ministry of
consolation offering spiritual care, support and compassion of those
in our community who are experiencing loss and grief at the death of
a loved one. The Bereavement Minister assists the family of
the deceased with planning the Funeral Liturgy, and serves as a
minister of hospitality at the Liturgy. The minister also
offers prayer and support to the family in the days and months
following the Funeral Liturgy. In addition the Bereavement
Ministry offers a "Parish Prayer Line" where parishioners can call
and ask for prayers for various intentions. Their intentions are
then prayed for by 25 parishioners who have volunteered to pray for
parish intentions. Prayer is the greatest force in the
universe, there is no limit to the good that can come about by
resting all our cares in Gods providence. For more information
about Bereavement Ministry contact Mrs. Elizabeth Field at the Rectory or Evelyn Strigle at
(215) 885-0976 for the Prayer Line.

The
Respect Life Committee is a group of parishioners who
meet a few times during the year. The focus of the group is to
call attention to the sanctity of all life, especially the
elderly, the isolated and the unborn. The committee provides
support to organizations within the area that share this
commitment. Reminders of the mission are highlighted on Respect
Life Sunday, Mother's Day and Father's Day. Please contact the
Respect Life coordinator for additional information.

Church Cleaners are a group of men and women who accept the responsibility
of cleaning the Sanctuary and Sacristy areas one day a month. The work is usually done on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Scheduling is done by the school secretary. If you are
interested in volunteering, please contact the rectory. Church
Decorators decorate the church for the Christmas and Easter Holy
days. New people with new ideas are always welcome. Contact the
coordinator for additional information. ▲
